Today's reading 1Samuel 23
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links: 1Samuel 23
In Samuel 23.1-6 Keilah was under attack by the Philistines. David and his men went and saved Keilah from the Philsitines (1-6) Saul pursues David (7—26) Saul knew David and his men were hiding in Keilah. David asked God for counsel and was told to leave Keilah because the citizen would moved form place to place. Notice Jonathan came to David and renew his covenant with him despite the fact that Saul, his father wanted to kill David. (v. 15-16). The Ziphites betrayed David and told Saul where he was hiding. David was always one step ahead of Saul. Why? Because God had a purpose for David. Let us not be discouraged when bad things happen to us (when we are in God’s will).
Application:
If we stay in God's will, He will always meet our needs including His protection
Verses to meditate on:
4 Once again David inquired of the LORD, and the LORD answered him, "Go down to Keilah, for I am going to give the Philistines into your hand."
