Today's reading 1Samuel 29
King James Version with Web Encyclopedia Links: 1Samuel 29
In 1Samuel 29 King Achish of the Philsitines decide to send David back to Ziklag. The commanders of the Philstines did not trust the David because of his expolits in killing many Philstines in his military campaign as well as Goliath. David had fled to the Philistines in 1Samuel 27 and stayed with them, pretending to be insane.
Application:
Even when you take refuge with your enemies do not trust you. David found out the hard way. David should have trusted God rather than the Philistines for his safety. God had caused Achish to drive him away from his comfort zone to better things, to become king of Israel and Judah. David could not see this but Gd had a plan for David.
Verses to meditate on:
6 So Achish called David and said to him, "As surely as the LORD lives, you have been reliable, and I would be pleased to have you serve with me in the army. From the day you came to me until now, I have found no fault in you, but the rulers don't approve of you. 7 Turn back and go in peace; do nothing to displease the Philistine rulers."
