Reading list for law and history, Year 1 of the Three Year Bible.

Today's reading Genesis 44
Joseph went through this routine of planting a silver cup in his brother's sack. He then send his servants to tell his brothers too return the silver cup. The brothers claimed to be innocent of the charge. The silver cup was found in Benjamin's sack. Judah interceded for Benjamin.

Application:
Isn't it amazing how the brothers have changed in their behavior over the years when God has dealt with them. They did not realize that God was testing them! Judah was willing to stay as a slave in Egypt. Judah probably remembered that the brothers sold Joseph as a slave in Egypt and now God was dealing with them. Be aware of sins which are not dealt with in your life. It can come back to haunt you. Judah did not want go back and tell Jacob about the detainiing of Benjamin in Egypt.

Reading list for law and history, Year 1 of the Three Year Bible.

Today's reading Genesis 40
Joseph interpreted the prisoners' dreams. He had given full credit to God for the interpretations. The chief butler's dream was interpreted favorably while the chief baker faced a certain death. Within three days the chief baker died and the chief butler was restored to his position.

Application:
God brings people in our lives like Joseph and we must be faithful where we are. Joseph could have given up and sulked yet he was willing to be of service where he was. Isn't it amazing that the chief butler did not remember Joseph but forgot him immediately upon his release.
